Mom Tip: Feeding Time

espresso spoons

My dear friend Janette always has the best baby tips (she’s even launched a baby essential e-course for design-conscious parents!). And even though I’ve passed the registry phase (my updated picks here!), she just shared with me the most genius tip for feeding your baby in style…

Class In Session

crafting school in australia 6

As a mother of three, leading Australian stylist Megan Morton couldn’t find inspired options to occupy her own children’s small, curious and creative minds. Sure, she was used to coordinating photo shoots and sourcing props and trouble-shooting endless last minute snafus. But when it came time to wrangle her littles in an engaging, art-inspired fashion, she lacked the support system to pull off their craftiest dreams. So she contacted a few skilled designers, artisans and specialized creatives in her area, compiling a dream wish list of teachers that might spark the imagination of her own children’s expression. And just like that, The School was born.

Heirloom Toys

fredericks and mae

The concept of heirloom toys has always seemed kind of impossible, you know? Could a single toy actually survive the chewing of babies, throwing of toddlers, forgetting of children? And with the quick sifting of trends and color schemes and “of-the-moment” patterns, how could you ensure a timeless, classic design?

Fredericks & Mae can. And has.

dear bee // 33.

bee

Dear Bee,

In the morning, you smell of Strawberry Puffs and possibility. We nurse and cuddle (a bit) before your brain tells you that, hey I’m a baby, it’s time to move up and move out. And you do. You are so close to walking that I’m googling weird things like, “What happens next?” and “What did I forget to babyproof?” and “How to slow time?”

The Bu! Blanket

bu blanket fine little day 4
If you’ve read this site for more than four minutes, you’ll know that there’s a very special place in my heart (and Bee’s toy chest) for multi-purpose products that can grow from the baby stage to todderdom and beyond. So of course, I was pleased to receive a note from Elisabeth announcing a shop update were I spotted the cleverest blanket of all: Bu! Blankets.

Birthday Suits

bday-shirts

We just sent out our invitations for Bee’s first birthday next month (what?!), so I’ve got celebrations on the brain. We’re big fans of low-key parties around here and are planning an ordinary cookout full of backyard games and watermelon and family jokes. And speaking of birthdays, how darling are these yearly tees for tots? I’d love to frame them each in a kid’s space – a creative growth chart with a typographic, stylish spin. So cute!

Available for £16.95 at Bob & Blossom.

Mini Space // 3 Musketeers

three-musketeers

I’ve been helping a few friends design nurseries and big kid bedrooms for the littles in their lives, and my goodness – is there anything sweeter than seeing tiny eyes light up in a space that reflects their truest passions and interests? I thought it might be fun to share a few of the designs here in case you’re looking for virtual inspiration for your own kid’s space – and please let me know if you’re stumped with a particular theme in your own home. I’m a big believer that it’s always possible to create a space your kid loves without compromising style!

Today is a big kid bedroom for my friend’s son, Beck, who is obsessed with his favorite Three Musketeers book. Sources below – enjoy!

For Love Of Stripes

stripes

Good morning, friends! I’m popping in quickly to share that Swedish-based clothing mecca Polarn O. Pyret (one of my sweet site supporters) is hosting their Best Basics Event again this year! I don’t usually post about sales, but I shopped this one to stock up for onesies for Bee when I was still pregnant this time last year and I’ll be picking up a few more today (Gasp! In 12 months size – What?!). The quality is truly amazing, and you can’t beat 20-50% off, right? Happy shopping (sale ends tomorrow)!

And yes, there are few things cuter than a striped kid.

Gender-Neutral Kids Clothing

indikidual unisex clothing 6

My friends and family always joke that Bee is very, very rarely seen crawling around the house in anything but a onesie/pj combo situation. It’s not that she doesn’t have a closet full of frilly dresses and lace (oh does she ever), but outfitting her in daily ruffles has just always felt a bit odd. Maybe it’s the lazy parent in me (onesies are just so easy!), but I also think that dresses just don’t quite suit Bee’s personality at the moment. She’s busy and adventurous and the tiniest bit ornery – more spice than sugar, if you will. Naturally, designer Syreeta Johnson’s newest unisex (and organic!) clothing line is right up our alley, ready for whatever boisterous behavior might be coming our way…

Eco-Confetti

throw and grow confetti
I have a love/hate relationship with confetti. Sure, it’s beautiful in the moment – a dazzling display of color and whimsy – but then there’s clean-up. And more clean-up. And still more clean-up, months later when you find bits of hued paper remnants stuck to the bottom of your shoe. Enter Throw & Grow confetti, a genius creation that blooms into beautiful wildflowers wherever it may land!
